Notice of Elections

 

The membership of the Krewe of Chaos is hereby notified that the annual election of officers and members of the Board of Directors will take place on August 9 at 6:00 p.m. at The Center, 1301 Colfax Ave, Denver, CO.

 

All members in good standing who are eligible to be covered by Directors and Officers Insurance are eligible for nomination and election to the following offices for 2010-11, which comprise the Executive Board:

  • Captain
  • Assistant Captain
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Public Relations Chairperson
  • Fundraising Chairperson
  • Membership Chairperson
  • Website Chairperson

Anyone wishing to run for a board position must complete the “Application for KOC Board” document. The completed application can be emailed to Doug Williams, Elections Chair, at wdouglaswilliams@msn.com or faxed to 303-320-6030. Nominees whose applications are received by July 20 will appear on the pre-printed ballot to be used the night of elections and on absentee ballots.  Those returning their applications after that date will be noted as write in candidates.

 

Other Board positions available for election, subject to the appropriate By-laws provisions (see below for proposed amendments), are:

  • Red Team Leader
  • Orange Team Leader
  • Yellow Team Leader
  • Green Team Leader
  • Blue Team Leader
  • Purple Team Leader

 

Nominations will open at the July 13 meeting and will remain open until the night of elections.  However, to be included on the absentee ballot your nomination must be submitted to the Elections Committee on the Krewe of Chaos Election Application no later than twenty (20) days prior to the scheduled election, that is by July 20.

 

Please update your address information with the Membership Chairperson Mark Smith at membership@kreweofchaos.org to insure that you receive your absentee ballot on time.

B.  Proposed Amendments to the By-laws

 

1.  Insertion of a new paragraph at Article III. K. 3) to read:

 

"In the event a member of the Board of Directors misses three meetings, the Board of Directors shall conduct a review to determine if the position will be considered vacant."

 

2.  Creation of a new Article, Standing Rules and Resolutions of the Board of Directors, and amendement of related Articles, concerning the governance of the Color Teams and the eligibility of Color Team members of the Board of Directors.  See attached document "Color Team Proposal" for complete text on the proposed changes.

 

Generally, this provides for the change of the age of membership to 13, creation of a new Youth class of membership to be comprised of members age 13 to 21 who shall be assigned as members of the Green Team, and selection of Adult Mentors for the Green Team.

 

Further, defines the minimum requirements for a Color Team to be accorded a seat on the Board of Directors as having at least 5 primary members and raising at least $300 annually for the general support of the Krewe.  It also describes the initial areas of responsibility for each team as follows:

  • Red Team - Marketing
  • Orange Team - Finance
  • Yellow - Product and Donations
  • Green - Youth
  • Blue - Volunteers
  • Purple - Staging

 

Members would allign themselves with one or more teams but have voting rights in only one group for Director elections

 

C.  Membership Renewals

 

All members are reminded that membership dues ($25 for Founding and General members) renew annually on September 1 each year.  Dues not received by September 30 shall be cause for inactivation of membership.  Watch for further membership renewal information from the Membership Chairperson Mark Smith.
